All-Seeing Eye and server-browser termination

As you may know, all our Multi Theft Auto versions up until now have relied on UDPSoft's All-Seeing Eye system to list game servers you can play on. UDPSoft were bought out by Yahoo! back in September 2004.

Today, the acquisition by Yahoo! has resulted in the unfortunate shutdown of the entire All-Seeing Eye network. As a result, the server browser functionality in all released Multi Theft Auto versions will no longer work.

We are currently working with Game-Monitor.com, a server listing website affiliated with Multi Theft Auto to integrate a new server browsing system. This will be incorporated into the next version of Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas which we will be releasing as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we would strongly recommend you to use the following link that lists the current servers queried by Game-Monitor.com:

Sorry for my sarcasm.
I am not glad to hear it.
But yeah, glad to hear it.
I hope the Servers will be up soon.
And I hope you will get that fucking DP2 Download working.

What's wrong with the 'fucking DP2 Download'? Seems to work fine here.

Chester's coach: We're not sure. We're probably talking a few weeks, though I'd like it sooner. It depends how much time the team can put in and if any issues are found. Please do not hold us to this, trying to meet any deadlines on a project like this, done in our spare time is hard enough.

Maybe instead of letting us using this uncomfortable list, you should release the next version of MTA instead..

MTA protocol handler

Game-monitor uses still the MTA 0.5 protocol handler to connect with the server even for MTA:SA Race and MTA:SA DM.

Hi.

I would like to ask something.
The new server browsing system will be integrate into the dm client only or the mta:race client too?

I guess there wont be an update for mta:race because i heard several times that the source code of race was lost during early stages of the dm developement...

Race will not be updated anymore, people are expected to move over to deathmatch. It will have the race mod itself in Lua. I understand the race mod is superior at the moment, however.

Race

The sourcecode for Race has not been lost. Our feeling is that DM should be able to provide the same gameplay as race does. If it doesn't, tell us what the problem is and we'll look at fixing it.

Going back and fixing race would be quite time consuming - a few days of our time I'd guess.
